Mazy Chambertin, Domaine Joseph Roty 2020

Tasting Notes

(Domaine Joseph Roty Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru Red) A very ripe liqueur-like nose offers up its aromas of black raspberry, spice, the sauvage and earth along with an interesting hint of dried tangerine peel. The dense, palate coating and imposingly powerful big-bodied flavors deliver superb length on the impressively long if raspy finish where touches of wood and warmth slowly emerge. This is a big and very serious but not especially austere effort. (Drink starting 2035)

Aromas of sweet cherries, cassis, dark chocolate and spices, framed by a deft touch of toasty new oak, introduce the 2020 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru, a full-bodied, layered and velvety wine that's deep, vibrant and concentrated. Built around supple tannins and lively acids, it's remarkably harmonious for so young a Roty Mazis.
