Gevrey Chambertin, Domaine Joseph Roty 2020

Tasting Notes

(Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Joseph Roty, Red) From various vineyards in the centre of the appellation, on both sides of the main road: Platière, Puits de la Baraque, Crais, Charreux, Champerriers. Full deep purple, with a luxurious ripe, but balanced fruit, an extra dimension here, but also firmer tannins than the Côte de Nuits-Villages. Back to the classic Roty structure with some crushed strawberries in the fruit mix.

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Village exhibits aromas of sweet cherries, raspberries, loamy soil and toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with powdery tannins and succulent acids, it concludes with a penetrating finish. As usual, it's one of the more approachable wines in the range.
