Tasting Notes

The 2017 L'If is fabulous. Rich and dense in the glass, the 2017 possesses off-the-charts intensity and vertical explosiveness. Black cherry, chocolate, licorice, smoke and dried flowers infuse the 2017 with tremendous complexity as well as nuance. The tannins are pretty much buried by the sheer depth of the fruit, while bright floral and spice notes punctuate the super-expressive finish. 2025 - 2047.

Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, March 2020

Tasted blind. Deep ruby colour. Plump cherry fruit and graphite on the nose, with hints of baking spices and cedar. Plush, silky fruit on the palate. There is good matière here, both in fruit and tannins. Mouth-coating but ripe tannins blend with brambly fruit. Smoky and rich, with a density seldom found in this vintage, yet everything comes together in balance. Long finish, good potential.
