Tasting Notes

The 2015 Latour a Pomerol builds on its potential from barrel with a fantastic bouquet: beautifully defined blackberry, briary, cold wet limestone and light wild heather aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and superb delineation—this is so focused and tensile, yet the finish shows immense panache and you will not be able to resist that silky smooth finish. Bon vin! Anticipated maturity: 2022 - 2045.

This steps into an elite league of Pomerol class and concentration, whilst still exuding freshness and transparency. It is a great vintage for Latour à Pomerol. Smells of pristine lightly spiced blueberries and plums and leads to intense flavors of red plums and red cherries cloaked in perfectly integrated spicy oak. Long, regal tannins that are seamless. This is clearly the best Latour à Pomerol for over 30 years. Try from 2023.

A blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Latour à Pomerol has an earthy/meaty nose of chargrilled meats, fertile loam, fungi and beef drippings over a core of blackberry preserves, cassis and pencil shavings plus a touch of tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers tons of savory layers with a firm, chewy structure and a lively line cutting through the tightly wound flavors, finishing long and earthy. 2022 - 2038

Mid crimson. Very aromatic and lifted. Very juicy and satisfying even if not that intense.

This 8 hectare property has been run by the JP Moueix family for 50 years and makes typically smooth and polished Pomerol from 96% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc. Bright ruby colour with elegant purity of cherry fruit on the nose, finding a perfect level of ripeness. The palate is juicy with cherry and plum fruit, with elegant and ripe tannins providing a soft structure. Lifted and floral on the long finish.

One of the blockbusters in the Moueix portfolio is the 2015 Latour A Pomerol. A blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc offers full-bodied richness and a ripe, opulent personality that’s already hard to resist. With classic notes of black cherries, bouquet garni, bay leaf and spicy oak, it has gorgeous purity of fruit, sweet tannin, and is a classic Pomerol in the making. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy over the following two decades. 2018 - 2038

The fruit on the nose is ripe depth of flavour the palate fleshy supple with black plum richness. There is an underlying freshness brighter and lighter at the back but the sweet fruit the ripe black plum comes through on the finish. 2026-37

One of the best value wines in the Moueix portfolio in 2015, this is a refined, alluringly
fragrant Pomerol. The oak is beautifully judged, the tannins polished, the fruit silky and
palate-caressing. So tasty you could almost drink it from the barrel. Drink: 2020-28

Vibrant red fruit and perfumed, fairly stern oak and the two main ingredients here and they are balanced nicely from
the nose to the finish. This is another long, solid wine with a heady scent and feisty tannins. It will be a beauty in the
medium-long term.

The 2015 Latour a Pomerol is a blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. It has an intense bouquet: black cherries, kirsch, truffle and a subtle sea spray scent that emerges only with aeration in the glass. The palate is very smooth on the entry. This is a refined and composed, almost graceful Latour-à-Pomerol, silky smooth in texture with layers of spicy black fruit fanning out on the finish. It is likely to be the best wine from this estate in several years - one to look out for once in bottle. Drink 2020-2050.

Wow. This is clearly the best Latour à Pomerol for over 30 years. Full and fabulously silky, it shows so much depth of fruit and length. It goes on for minutes. Mostly merlot with a touch of cabernet franc.
