The flagship estate of Jonathan Maltus also the proprietor of Chateau Teyssier, Le Dome usually contains an atypically high percentage of Cabernet Franc. The result in 2006 includes beautiful notes of menthol, raspberries, black cherries, flowers, crushed rocks, and subtle new wood offered in an elegant, richly fruity style. Light, but flavorful and concentrated with a long, velvety finish, it should be drinkable between 2010-2022+.
Tasted at the château, the 2006 Le Dôme has retained an attractive bouquet with crushed violet and cold limestone scents percolating through the blackberry and boysenberry fruit. The palate is fresh on the entry with slightly coarse tannin, mulberry, red plum and Seville orange marmalade here, moderate depth with just a slightly abrupt, muscular finish. It has aged better than Les Asteries and I would be inclined to drink this over the next 5-7 years.
Bright red-ruby. Aromas of blackberry, plum, licorice, violet, coffee and mocha; very cabernet franc. Lush, rich and fine-grained, with lovely inner-mouth spicy and floral lift. The most serious and concentrated of Jonathan Maltus's group of 2006s, this should really be held for at least a few years. The sweet finishing flavors dust the palate.

The brilliant 2006 Le Dome (94) offers plenty of cassis and camphor as well as a terrific texture and that almost surreal lightness that comes from the high percentage of Cabernet Franc and what is obviously a top-flight vineyard. This elegant offering is not as dense as the 2008, but it is capable of lasting 15 or more years.
Tasted at Le Dôme. A gorgeous rich nose of black cherries, a touch of Xmas cake and wild hedgerow, developing more of a crème de cassis note in the glass. The palate is opulent and full-bodied with spicy black fruits, saturated tannins and a texture so smooth you could slide down it. Blueberry on the slightly savoury finish. Very long but quite backward. Superb. Tasted April 2007
