One of the lighter wines in colour. A pretty, almost floral bouquet. Nothing sturdy here but it is extremely pleasing. Not full but not weak, not long but with an adequate finish. Just a really pretty wine for spring and early summer. Drink from 2026-2031. Tasted: October 2023.
Le Chapitre is a superb vineyard from a relatively unfashionable appellation, a great combination when looking for quality that excedes price in Burgundy. An east facing site to the north of Chenôve, Jadot's parcel includes two thirds old vines planted in 1953. De-stemmed with an 18 month maturation in barrel, this has the vibrant hit common to all the best 2022s. Vivid ruby in the glass, bright redcurrant and wild strawberries immediately jump from the glass on the nose, which is fragrant and enticing. The palate has a deft touch of wood spice, a crunch of ripe tannins and a streak of acidity, none of which get in the way of the jewel-like red fruit at the core. Easy to like, with a moreish approachability but undelying grip to age in bottle, this is a sweet spot for value for those looking to buy quality at an affordable price point.
