The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Grands Terroirs Oubliés is elegant and charming, bursting with aromas of pear, freshly baked bread, toasted nuts and white flowers. Medium-bodied, satiny and pure, it's a bright, fleshy wine that will show well on release. Drink 2023-2035.
This cuvee is made from the single vineyards that didn't produce enough wine to justify individual bottling. It includes Les Vernays, La Cote and les Croux - as well as a part of Haut de Roche. 25% new oak and elevage for 7 months in barrel. Bright and pale in colour, this has an underlying coolness, with green fruit and fresh, crunchy pear together with the gloss of a little baking spice on the nose. The palate is tangy with acidity, bringing real zip and citrus in waves. The lick of sweet spice bolsters the fruit, but this has an effortless approachability. One to enjoy in its first 5+ years after bottling.
