This stunning 2008 (14% natural alcohol) is composed of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Only 1,300 cases were produced of this dense plum/purple-hued offering. It exhibits a big, sweet nose of blackberries, black currants, licorice, smoke and forest floor. The lovely perfume is followed by a medium to full-bodied wine displaying sweet, velvety tannins as well as an endearing personality. It begs to be consumed now and over the next 10-15 years
Blackberry and licorice on the nose, with mineral. Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tanninsand a pretty, fruity aftertaste of vanilla and sandalwood
This tiny 17 acre Pomerol estate has been on the up since proprietor Jeremy Chasseuil took back control in 2000 after a long standing lease with Moueix expired. With only a 1200 case production, it is worth looking out for en primeur in the good vintages. Jeremy believes his '08 is a between his '05 and '06 for flavour, (both delicious wines) but with better acidity than both.
One of the finest efforts yet made at this estate situated not far from Trotanoy and Latour a Pomerol, the 2008 Feytit-Clinet is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Yields were a modest 34 hectoliters per hectare. The wine exhibits a dense ruby/purple color in addition to a muscular, concentrated, full-bodied style with brilliant purity as well as texture. It is capable of lasting 15-20 years. Consumers should keep an eye on this Pomerol estate.
