Tasting Notes

1) (4 year 228-litre cask, Bassenon) **** red robe; has a calm, rounded nose, a sprinkle of flowers, dried pot pourri, small red fruits. The palate is gentle, rose marked, flattering as it starts, develops depth in its tannins, is powdery, rather aromatic, the balance good, with lead on the finish. 22 years. It’s more provocative than the 2) (new 228-litre cask of Bassenon) ***(*) dark red; the nose is discreet, on blackberry with just a hint of flowers, soft violets. The palate is well together, more coated than the used cask, is sealed in style, holds compact gras, has a rounded finale 20 years 3) (used 228-litre cask, Rozier 30% whole bunch) ****(*) dark red; herbal notes mingle with iron and good, clear fruit on the racy, interesting nose. The palate is well set on classy red-fruited content, develops fire in its tannins, has spark, high interest, blood notes along the palate. It’s very good, a lot to consider. From 2025-26 25 years. Overall 2043-45 Oct 2021 ****
