Tasting Notes

Here the nose is much more reserved with a potent but subtle mix of dark berry fruit aromas plus subtle game and earth notes that continue onto the sweet, seductive, textured and slightly toasty flavors that are notably powerful and strikingly long. The awkwardness this displayed from cask has completely disappeared and this is really very impressive. Note: from a .36 ha parcel in Mochamps - 75% from 25 year old vines and the remainder from 40 year old vines

Cask sample. Final blend though not yet bottled. Deliciously sweet strawberry fruit on the nose, enhanced by the sweetness of the oak. Absolutely delicious and stands out even at of a long day’s tasting. Fresh intense red fruit, tannins so fine you almost miss them but together with fresh acidity they give great shape for the fruit to fill. Fine elegant lingering finish. Very very good. One of my favourites. (JH)
