Gevrey Chambertin, Domaine Armand Rousseau 2022

Tasting Notes

This is also sufficiently reduced to overshadow the fruit though a spice wisp does peek through the funk. There is better volume and punch to the delicious and generously proportioned flavors that conclude in a dusty, youthfully austere and sneaky long finish that is noticeably firmer. As usual, the 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is a touch deeper and more structured than the Clos du Château, exhibiting notes of sweet red berry compote and plums mingled with spices and vine smoke. Medium-bodied, supple and penetrating, with powdery tannins and a saline finish, it includes fruit from premiers crus Perrières and Etournelles Saint-Jacques.

Mid purple more depth, equally striking. This absolutely fills the mouth with the most beautiful cherries and raspberries, and just a very slightly dry finish which the fruit soon climbs over.
