Rich deep dark colour, the nose is a little less exciting than I expected, showing a little bit of the burnt stones aspect of Brûlées. There is certainly a significant weight to this wine, with a sweeter touch, interestingly complex and with good length. Fresher finish.
An even spicier and slightly riper nose offers up aromas of plum liqueur, red cherry and a pretty array of floral scents and in particular violet and lavender. The super-sleek, refined and equally energetic middle weight flavors possess a gorgeous texture that carries over to the moderately structured, youthfully austere and beautifully persistent finale. The supporting tannins are more sophisticated if less dense and while this too is going to require extended cellaring, this lovely effort should be reasonably approachable after 8ish or so years.
