Intense concentrated purple, with clearly more weight of fruit than the Charmes. Certainly, this kicks on in almost sultry fashion towards the back, lush ripe raspberry but with the usual fine thread. Approaching 14% alcohol, which a grand cru can manage.
There is a mentholated top note to the more deeply pitched, and again super-fresh, aromas of dark berries, spice, earth and sauvage wisps. There is excellent intensity to the broad-shouldered and mineral-driven flavors that also possess a lovely texture on the sneaky long, powerful and youthfully austere finale. This is also quite promising and a wine that should improve and develop over most of the next 20 years. (Drink starting 2037)
