Tasting Notes

(for 500 ml.; 135 g/l r.s. with 8.8 grams of acidity) Bright orange-gold. Aromas of peach nectar, marzipan and five-spice powder, with a floral muscat lift. Very sweet, fat and full, with notes of honey, herbs and flowers. Just a tad bitter-edged; this concentrated wine is actually in a distinctly closed stage today. Klein Constantia's famous sweet wine has a history dating back two centuries.

Drop-dead gorgeous nose: lots of spice, honey, raisins. Thrilling acidic line. Oxidised notes on the finish, giving a bruised, orange-peel finish – but that doesn't compromise the quality. (RH)
