A background trace of reduction isn't enough to completely overshadow the aromas of black pinot fruit, plum liqueur and humus. The sleeker and most vibrant flavors are also relatively forward though there is enough structure to suggest that 4 to 6 years should see this at its peak. 30% Whole Bunch Fermentation; 40% new wood. I thought there might be a whiff of oxidation here, but in fact I suspect it is a residue of tasting the sans souffre cuvée since this is clearly fresh on the palate, even with a slightly stern finish from the stems, cherries with a savoury edge, and good length.
