Clos Saint Denis, Domaine Gagey, Louis Jadot 2022

Dense and smoky on the nose, this is intense and characterful, clearly showing both vintage and sight. Red cherries and plums intertwine with riper brambly tones on the palate, but this is not overripe. Chalky and mouthcoating tannins give real grip and structure to the wine, adding freshness and savour, meriting at least 5 years bottle age before approaching. The underlying fruit is succulent, adding flesh without ever being heavy. This brooding vin de garde will be one of the last Jadot wines to hit its peak in 2022, but it should show brilliantly once it does.
