Opening in the glass with dramatic aromas of pear, white flowers, clear honey and toasted bread, the 2019 Montrachet Grand Cru is full-bodied, rich and enveloping, with lively balancing acids and a deep and complete profile, concluding with a long, lavish finish. It's produced from must purchased from Baron Thénard—whose large holdings lie on the Chassagne side.
One of the palest colours with just a little pale green edge. The bouquet is entirely harmonious, graceful if ripe, but some citrus notes are also playing in there with the riper pear to peach aromatics. Sumptuous smooth ripe flesh, but not soft, then the ripe spice of the vintage, all works very well, very harmoniously. Some sandalwood. It is ripe though.
