The 2022 Vijariego Blanco (or Verijadiego Blanco) has a low 11.1% alcohol, a low pH and high acidity, reflecting an early harvest in a warm year and a warm zone. It fermented and matured in 500-liter oak barrels for 10 months. This is a late-ripening variety, the last to be picked, and the grapes still achieved moderate alcohol (it's in a more shaded place). The wine has some austerity—it's a sharp variety—with a strict and neutral palate with faint aromas of white flowers. All the wines are clean and precise, and this is no exception. It should develop nicely in bottle. 1,320 bottles were filled in July 2023.
Full of energy, this unique variety is all citrus pith, struck match and apricots on the nose. The palate is steely and sharp, a cut of acidity piercing through ripe citrus, apricot and apple pie. Hints of wild white flowers come through on its fragrant, precise, pristine wine.
