Tasting Notes

Reticent of aroma, yet the coil of acidity underpinning this wine is juicy rather than hard as I have often found it in the past. A workout in the glass reveals green apple, Asian pear, anise, spa salts and chalky pungency. The ripeness is on point. Properly mid-weighted, forceful of extract and dutifully long. This will age well across the mid-term, as its track record attests. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Full screwcapped bottle 1,276 g (much lighter than his 2022s). 'Biodynamically grown and hand crafted' according to the back label, so certified, according to the Grosset website, which also describes the vineyard as 'a rare combination of Riesling clones planted entirely on red loam-over-limestone, with slate at its base'.
More open on the nose than the 2022, funnily enough. Broad and rich in terms of fruit although obviously bone dry on the (long) finish. Intense lime flavour. Great nervy balance. Pure but complex Riesling flavours. Still slightly chewy on the end but already approachable and pretty gorgeous. (JR)
