Here too there is a note of mineral reduction present on the more floral-suffused aromas of citrus, pear and acacia. There is once again a bit more volume and richness if not the same minerality and precision to the middle weight flavors that possess a lovely mouth feel, all wrapped in a lingering and ever-so-mildly austere finale. A wine of finesse and understatement.
Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Sauzet's 2014 Puligny Montrachet 1Er Cru Champ Canet has a slight reduction on the nose, a very light ash-like scent behind the citrus fruit, grass clippings and perhaps a touch of mulch. The palate is well balanced with grapefruit and a touch of lime on the entry. There is good depth to this Puligny, although it does not deliver the tension and mineralité of the best wines. Conservative? Maybe, although it is still thoughtfully made. Drink Date 2018 - 2030
