Reviewed by Victoria Daskal. Wine was matured in new American oak hogsheads for 18 months. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Coonawarra, Kalimna Vineyard in Barossa Valley and McLaren Valley.
Remarkably brilliant colour – a bit lighter than the other Penfolds 1990s previous wines. Nose is intense with persistent cool mint, black berries and very ripe raspberries. Like brushing your teeth with berries and mint – I feel refreshed and cool. Good fresh acidity, nice balance between alcohol and tannins. A bit of a spike in the mid palate – almost a bit peppery and then subsides into cool fruits.
