(from Voerzio's highest-altitude site): Dark red. Much more floral on the nose than the Cerequio, offering scents of black cherry, raspberry, violet and brown spices. Vinous, slightly high-toned and penetrating, offering a lovely combination of inner-mouth perfume, finesse of texture, sheer flavor intensity and powerful spine. Finishes very long, fresh and suave. A knockout.
I love the character of the 2009 Barolo La Serra and was immediately blown away by the beauty of the bouquet. The wine exhibits exotic tones of cumin seed and cardamom that take your senses to an imaginary North African bazaar. The consistency is soft and sensual. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
Ruby with soft bricky rim. Sweet dried cherries. Some undergrowth and fine developing complexity where you cannot single out the aromas any more. Firm, almost stern grip though the texture is fine. Would like a little more freshness though the multiple layers compensates for it as does an aftertaste of spice on the tongue. Drink 2017 - 2030.
