A mild touch of reduction masks the fruit today but I doubt that it will persist for very long because there is excellent freshness and verve to the delicious and citrusy middle weight flavors that evidence ample minerality on the linear, bone dry and chiseled finish. In contrast to the prior wines, this is going to need at least a few years of bottle age first to unwind and flesh out. (Drink starting 2022)
From vines planted in the 1960s, the Sous Fretille opens in the glass with a reserved nose of green orchard fruit, struck match and chalky soil tones. It is glossy, concentrated and mineral, with good cut and grip, and demands a few years in the cellar to reveal all its potential. (Drink between 2020-2030)
