This highly expressive and exotic 2022 Chardonnay radiates the character of the Gingin clone, with vibrant apricot and nectarine aromas lathered with fine French oak. Richly flavored with a firm oak backbone lifted by chalky acidity and underpinned by savory crush nut complexity, which drives an extraordinarily long finish. It is incredibly young but beautifully positioned to flower over at least the next decade.
Scents of key lime pie and wet stone, as much a legacy of judicious reduction as an indictment of a superb, low-yielding bonsai-like site. Peach, apricot pith, nougatine and hazelnut. A skein of succulent, maritime freshness drags impressive length, while the breadth and intensity of flavor is a raft of indisputable quality. A powerful chardonnay, underlined by a mid-weighted carapace of tension and verve. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
