A ripe but fresh nose combines notes of various white orchard fruit aromas, acacia blossom, citrus shavings and hints of wood and matchstick. There is a really lovely mouth feel to the lavishly rich middle weight flavors that retain a fine sense of energy while delivering solid depth and persistence. An opulent Puligny villages that could be enjoyed almost upon release but reward several years of cellaring too.
Jacques Carillon's 2015 Puligny Montrachet Villages was quite dramatic from tank, but it has tightened up a bit after bottling, unfurling in the glass with aromas of peach, white flowers and fresh pear. On the palate, the wine is elegant, medium to full-bodied and moderately concentrated. My suspicion is that this was a bit shut down after its recent bottling, and if so my score will look conservative.
