Corton Charlemagne, Domaine Georges & Christophe Roumier 2014

Tasting Notes

An attractively fresh and ripe yet cool array is composed by notes of apple, white peach, petrol and floral scents that are trimmed in just a touch of mineral reduction. There is excellent punch to the slightly skinny medium weight plus flavors that culminate in a moderately austere, stony and lengthy finale that is borderline rustic. As I noted last year, the 2014 CC was somewhat awkward and now that it's in bottle, the awkwardness remains, plus the mid-palate fat it displayed seems to be in hibernation as well. This is one of those wines that may very well come together but it's frankly hard to read today.
