Echézeaux, Domaine Jean Grivot 2010

Tasting Notes

The 2010 Echezeaux is unbelievably beautiful. It comes across as somewhat cool and understated, but from time to time the wine’s gorgeous fruit shows its pure class. A burst of fruit informs an utterly pure, crystalline finish marked by its nuance and detail. Grivot’s Echezeaux is a model of understated power. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2040.

**Note: from the climat of Les Cruots, also known as Vignes Blanches**
Wonderfully complex, pure and pretty spice and floral nuances combine with cool and reserved aromas of red currant and kirsch. The cool, restrained and exquisitely energetic medium plus weight flavors possess an abundance of palate coating dry extract that buffers well the firm tannins on the balanced, forcefully persistent and moderately austere finish. This is also a relatively powerful wine when considered within the context of the typical Ech but it's not quite as muscular and structured as the Clos de Vougeot. This will also require extended cellaring so patience required.
