Notes of matchstick and petrol serve as a reasonably subtle backdrop for the aromas of ripe pear, apple and floral wisps. There is excellent volume but also fine verve to the utterly delicious, rich and mouth coating flavors that are at once powerful yet elegant, all wrapped in a borderline chewy and tannic finish. This possesses excellent depth and length though if there is a nit it's that it is somewhat less elegance than usual. That said, this still very youthful effort is most impressive. Drink: Try from 2024+
The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru les Caillerets, one of the domaine's most propitious holdings, has a bewitching bouquet with orange zest, apricot blossom, flint and wet limestone scents that possess laser-like focus. The palate is very well balanced with superb mineralité and a powerful (again like Coche-Dury’s fellow Meursault wines this year) spicy finish that lingers on and on. This is a feisty Caillerets that will age with style and panache.
