Vosne Romanée, Pascale Marchand / Marchand-Tawse 2019

Tasting Notes

From Jacquines, Raviolles, and upper and lower Maizières. All destemmed, with 30% new oak. Classic 2019 rich purple colour. Quite a heady nose, not so much detail. Then the wine explodes in the mouth, lush but exciting because there is adequate acidity, fruit becomes darker as the palate progresses. Long liqueur cherry finish.

An even spicier nose reflects softly toasty aromas of plum, violet and sandalwood. The caressing and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors culminate in a youthfully austere and mildly rustic finish. This is a bit toasty today and there is a touch of warmth, but it should make for a delicious wine in time.
