Mild bricking. At almost 20 years of age it's beginning to show its age as are many '97s with its expressive and attractively layered nose that has gone almost entirely secondary (though with no sous-bois) along with plenty of earth and sauvage characters. There is good volume and richness to the velvet-textured medium-bodied flavors that possess the same fine depth as the nose, all wrapped in an ever-so-mildly rustic finish. This is an excellent '97 but the time has come to drink up over the next 5 years or so as this risks becoming long in the tooth if held much longer. Consistent notes over time.
