Charles Heintz is just outside the town of Occidental, directly in the face of coastal influences. The eroded, meagre sandstone soils drive the old vine roots deep into the bedrock. Cool ocean air moderates the direct sunshine.
Pale straw. Lightly smoky nose. Really rich palate impact – actually quite rich for a Sonoma Coast wine. And with quite a bit of chew. Lots of savour – and a hint of oak influence.
