**Note: a 50/50 blend of Craipillot and La Perrière; the two parcels total .35 ha**
There is just enough reduction present to push the underlying fruit to the background. Otherwise there is good volume to the lightly mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that possess a notably finer mouthfeel thanks to the relatively fine-grained tannins shaping the softly austere but persistent finish. This is sufficiently inviting that it could be enjoyed on the younger side.
Offering up notes of cherries, sweet red berries, forest floor and truffles, the 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru is medium to full-bodied with an ample attack that segues into a taut mid-palate, framed by fine-grained tannins and concluding with a pure and attractively mineral finish. It's a blend of Craipillot and Perrières but Perrières always seems to dominate its personality.
