Tasting Notes

The Monbousquet 2016 Blanc delivers intense scents of lime juice, lemon zest and grapefruit with hints of peach blossom, beeswax and mandarin peel. Medium-bodied, the palate is packed with zesty layers with a wonderfully refreshing backbone, finishing on a compelling chalky note. Drink 2020-2030.

Score: 92+Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate (interim En), November 2018

The 2016 Monbousquet Blanc has an attractive bouquet of Golden Delicious apple, beeswax and touches of pressed flowers. The palate is well balanced and quite saline in the mouth, with crisp acidity and a brisk, slightly chalky finish. White peach lingers on the aftertaste. Enjoy this over the next five years. Drink 2021-2030.

Score: 89Neal Martin, vinous.com (Jan 2019), January 2019

The Monbousquet 2016 Blanc is a blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Gris and 5% each of Muscadelle and Sémillon. It has a crisp bouquet with fresh lime and passion fruit aromas, nicely detailed with good vigor. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, a little waxiness to the texture from the Sauvignon Gris with a straightforward dried pineapple-tinged finish. Fine. 2018 - 2026

A juicy and round white already with dried pinepple and honey. Hints of pears. Full and flavorful.

The 2016 Monbousquet Blanc d'Exception is laced with the essence of mango, passion fruit, exotic white flowers and mint. As always, the Blanc is made in an exotic, aromatic style, with a dollop of Muscadelle that adds midpalate depth.

Score: 89/91Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, April 2017

Owned by Gérard Perse. 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Gris, 5% Muscadelle, 5% Sémillon. Not barrel fermented but aged in a mix of 50% new and 50% used barrels. Bâtonnage.
Exotic and salty and sweet. Quite rich. Not refreshing. But smoky and big and beefy.

Score: 16.5Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, April 2017

The white from this estate, the 2016 Blanc d'Exception is a medium-bodied, clean, pretty white that’s about as gulpable as it gets. Classy notes of lemon, salted melon, and a touch of flowers all define the bouquet, and it should drink nicely for 2-4 years. Drink 2019-2023.
