Tasting Notes

The 2015 Fourcas-Dupre, which showed extremely well from barrel, has a classic pencil lead-scented bouquet that builds nicely in the glass, blackberry and briary scents very expressive after just a few swirls of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity. This is not a deep or powerful wine, but it has a certain elegance and I appreciate the precision on the finish. You could broach this early or just enjoy over the next 12 to 15 years.

Score: 91Neal Martin,, March 2018

The 2015 Fourcas-Dupre offers plenty of blackberry and boysenberry fruit on the nose, a touch of brine here, a subtle marine influence that lends it complexity and personality. The palate is medium-bodied with a juicy opening, a melange of red and black fruit, taut and quite linear with plenty of freshness and tension on the finish. This is a well-crafted Listrac that punches well above my expectations. Hopefully it can retain this level after its élevage - one to keep an eye on.

Score: 91/93Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, April 2016

Quite a sweet plummy nose, but this has some tannic backbone. Medium body and firm tannins. Drink now or hold.

Score: 88James Suckling, (226), February 2018

Tasted blind. Astringent and a bit green but serviceable.

Score: 16Jancis Robinson MW,, February 2019

Mid cherry red. Fragrant with both red and black fruit. On the lighter side though elegantly balanced. Plenty of freshness and just enough fruit to fill the fine-boned structure

Score: 16.5Julia Harding MW,, November 2017

Bright ruby in colour, with juicy cherries and red berries on the nose. There is a hint of smoke, that pairs nicely with subtle graphite notes. The palate is plump with plums and cherries, yet light-footed, with fresh acidity and fine tannins gently framing the core of cool red and black fruit. Hints of earthiness and smokiness add to the complexity on the finish. Soft, supple and ready to drink now.
