Gevrey Poissenot, Domaine Geantet-Pansiot 2014

Tasting Notes

Moderate oak stops short of dominating the cool and restrained aromas of red and dark currant scents that are trimmed in notes of spice, underbrush and game. The detailed, intense and well-delineated medium weight flavors also exude plenty of minerality on the explosive if linear and quite youthfully austere finale. This is definitely going to need time to flesh out and add complexity. Drink 2026+

The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Poissenots has one of the most attractive bouquets from Geantet-Pansiot. There is more purity, more Pinoté here compared to other wines, perfumed and quite floral in style--with the oak here nicely subsumed by the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, fleshy in the mouth and quite harmonious. This domaine's wines can sometimes lack elegance, however, this shows that it can be delivered. Classy.
