This 2012 comes across as a well-made, over-achieving wine from this property. Dense ruby/purple, with notes of vanilla, spice box, earth and plenty of blackcurrants, it is medium-bodied, with ripe tannins, in a classic, traditional style. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.
The 2012 La Bernadotte has a lovely ripe blackberry and raspberry bouquet with more mineral presence than many of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins, plenty of tobacco-infused black fruit and an aloof, austere finish that has plenty of length. Classic Englishman's claret!
