The 2005 Coteaux d'Aix en Provence Alpilles is a beauty that shows the tighter, firmer, more focused style of the vintage. Offering a Burgundian bouquet of ripe black cherries, cedary herbs, graphite, and toasted spice, this beauty hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, precise texture, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It’s drinking beautifully today, yet given its bright acidity and integrated tannins, it will easily keep for another decade in cool cellars.
Mid crimson. Mid intensity of nose. Quite brutal and bone dry, without the lusciousness of the 2007. Very dry finish. Uncompromising. Surly at the moment but it's tucked in there for the long haul.
