Churton's Sauvignon Blanc has been a Farr favourite for decades. Sam Weaver - founder and owner - is now joined by his sons making wines from Marlborough that have more in common with wines from the Loire than those of his neighbours. Despite the much lower yields and costlier farming practices he employs, the wines remain superb value for money.
Marlborough is full of fertile land, much of it farmed by machine with the sole purpose of producing significant volumes of distinctly average Sauvignon Blanc. These wines are for the most part pungent and stylised, lacking both subtlety or substance. At Churton, biodynamically farmed, densely planted vineyards on rolling hills produce fruit of much, much higher quality from significantly lower yields. Spontaneous fermentations are slower and more difficult, but they bring texture and depth to the wines.
The 2023 receives strong press in Vinous. “Pure like glacial water with fine, lacy texture, its flavors are delicate and refined” writes Rebecca Gibb MW, continuing “It has rich substance within its mid-weight core, and the finish is long and texturally complex. That's not something you can say about a lot of Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs, but then Churton does its own thing.” She scores it 94 points: not bad at all for a wine at this price.
At £110 per dozen in bond this offers exceptional value for money, especially when compared with the commercial big (and sometimes revered) names. On top of that we are pleased to offer a multi-case rate of £100 per dozen for 2+ cases. This is the perfect wine for the spring and summer sun and is in our warehouse ready for immediate delivery.

Subtle and elegant: that's how Churton's 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough is best described. Pure like glacial water with fine, lacy texture, its flavors are delicate and refined. Readers can expect restrained floral notes, sweet apple and nectarine, and the merest hint of flinty character. It has rich substance within its mid-weight core, and the finish is long and texturally complex. That's not something you can say about a lot of Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs, but then Churton does its own thing. 2024 - 2027
