Among several vintages from the 1990s, the 1999 Meursault Villages clearly has chutzpah to spare. It has a very complex bouquet with wonderful definition and poise, real minerality here. The aromatics seem to shimmer in the glass, blissfully ignoring the temporal degradation of wine. The palate reveals flinty notes on the entry that exude wonderful definition and tension. It feels quite linear and focused, full of energy with an intense finish worthy of a premier cru from any other producer. Outstanding - clearly a cut above the previous two vintages. Drink 2014 - 2022.
