I have had this many times over the years and while it was at one time an incredibly good villages, the high acidity of the '96 vintage is beginning to catch up to the finish. A bottle tried in November 2021 was still very good with excellent complexity, the finish was slightly tart. It merited 90 points. The best example was a bottle tried in March 2017 where the note was: A still wonderfully fresh and bright nose is fully mature and I particularly admire the first-rate complexity that can also be found on the crisp, intense, stony and lemon-tinged finale. This is still going strong even at 21 years of age, and particularly so for a villages level wine. In a word, excellent.
