Robert Parker scored this wine but space limitations did not allow him to publish tasting notes. He did, however, write about this wine and all the other cru bourgeois that he scored that: "2005 is the finest vintage for these wines since 1982. The range of scores for these wines should give readers an idea of just how consistent this vintage is at this level. Given the style of the vintage, most of these wines should be accessible young yet evolve for a decade or more because of their concentration and tannic structure."
Very dark crimson. Supple but concentrated, very ripe, Margaux character on the nose. Rich yet appetising. Not a very long term player but well made. Opulent, rather magnificent ripe fruit on the nose with some real layers already. Neat, well balanced, quite brisk with no excesses of alcohol or sweetness. Tannins quite tight and sandy - so dry, tight finish. Very classic expression of Margaux 2005 without going right to the limit of gorgeousness. Certainly shouldn't disappoint. Drink 2012-20
Good medium-deep red. Sexy aromas of redcurrant, minerals, tobacco, coffee and cedary oak. Sweet and opulent, with inviting coffee and mocha tones carrying through on the palate. Finishes with sweet tannins and good mellow length. This shut down in the glass, suggesting that it will need at least several years of aging.
Fine concentrated colour and cassis fruit, fragrant and floral, has charm, weight and length, fine expression of Margaux. Drink 2009-20
Lots of grapey, berry and green tobacco character, turning to crushed blackberries. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a medium finish. Nice fruit.
