Chevalier Montrachet, Domaine de la Vougeraie 2016

Tasting Notes

A discreet but not invisible touch of reduction presently takes the top off the mildly exotic aromas of mostly white-fleshed fruit, citrus and petrol scents. Not entirely surprisingly, the mouth feel of the equally large-scaled flavors is much more refined and they are clearly built on a firm base of minerality that carries over the sleek, saline and beautifully delineated finale. This classy effort will need time to add more depth but it should easily do that in time.

Only 2 barrels made.
A fuller yellow. The nose is biscuity and rather advanced. Some apple notes on a palate which is fresher than the colour and nose suggested, with some length. But not a grand classic on today’s showing.

Just two barrels. Fine bright lemon and lime colour. The nose starts quietly, white fruit nonetheless with some spicier notes. Quite restrained with very good length behind but not quite singing at this stage.
