Montrachet, Domaine Leflaive 2000

Tasting Notes

Even after 10 years, this is still relatively reserved aromatically yet vigorous swirling reveals subtle, discreet notes of dried herbs, citrus, limestone and ripe pear aromas that are followed by marvelously intense, broad-scaled flavors that are so powerful, dense and hugely long. This has arrived at a point where it could certainly be enjoyed but the balance is so good that it will easily last 25 years and for my taste, I would allow it another 2 to 5 years of cellar time first as it has not quite reached its full potential. A lot of Montrachet isn't worthy of the name but that is not the case with the 2000 Leflaive.
