Tasting Notes

Here too there is a hint of herbal tea on the high-toned and equally cool red berry aromas that are trimmed in enough wood to notice. The finer if less powerful middleweight flavors possess excellent delineation on the dusty, moderately austere and linear finish that is presently a bit lean. This is carrying quite a bit of gas and the overall balance isn't easy to assess so this may well age out successfully.

Allen Meadows, Burghound.com (90), April 2013

Medium deep crimson. Perfumed ripe cherry on the nose. There is an extra wealth of fruit, lifted raspberry, with riper tannins behind. Fine persistence, this one goes all the way. Drink from 2026-2032. Tasted: October 2022

Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, December 2022

Bright ruby in colour with an intense, vibrant nose of red fruit and a little hedgerow. Layered between red and slightly riper dark fruits, the palate is silky and refined - just as good Volnay should be. It will drink well from the get-go but the depth and purity of fruit is matched by the fine grip of structure; it should age gracefully in bottle.
