Morey Saint Denis Forge de Tart, Clos de Tart 2019

Tasting Notes

The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis La Forge de Tart 1er Cru has an open nose with touches of potpourri infusing the red berry fruit, brown spices and just a faint hint of espresso. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, quite fresh and tensile towards the finish that feels very precise. This is very promising.

**Note: made from Clos de Tart fruit that should produce about 4000 bottles in 2019; 15% whole clusters**
An elegant and agreeably fresh nose is comprised by a pretty blend of both red and dark pinot fruit, sandalwood, violet and a subtle touch of wood. There is better volume and richness to the attractively textured and refined medium-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract and a subtle minerality on the long and bitter cherry pit-inflected finale where the only nit of note is a touch of warmth. This is really quite good and worthy of your interest.

Revisited in bottle, the 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru La Forge de Tart wafts from the glass with aromas of raspberries, sweet spices, rose petals and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, with an ample core of fruit, powdery tannins and lively acids, it's seamless and harmonious, promising a broad drinking window.
