Tasting Notes

The 2021er Riesling Scharzhof is a fruity-styled wine made from the Estate’s holdings in the Saarburger Rausch, the Oberemmeler Rosenberg, the Wiltinger Kupp, and the Wiltinger Braunfels. This white-yellow colored wine offers a stunning nose of citrusy fruits, white peach sorbet, mint, cassis, and smoke. It offers a superbly bright acidity which is beautifully balanced by fruitiness on the palate. The finish is juicy and screams for more: What a great success! We would opt to wait a little bit to give the wine the time to develop more aromatic precision. 2026-2036

Jean Fisch & David Rayer, Mosel Fine Wines (62), June 2022

Finely etched with green apple, lime, struck match and wet stone on the nose, this is cool and enticing. Lip-smacking acidity rushes the palate together with intense green fruit on the palate, this is svelte and focused. Laser-like and compact, it is still very youthful but so full of energy. Just 8.5% abv but the sugar is barely perceptable due to the waves of bracing freshness. Cool, intense and very fine, this should be laid down for at least two years and will have a great life ahead. A very impressive, quintessential Mosel style.
