Tasting Notes

The 2020 La Salvación was produced with Godello from a one-hectare plot in Arganza that is fresher, regrafted from Mencía to Godello some 15 years ago, and the roots are 100 years old. The destemmed grapes were pressed in a pneumatic press, and the juice fermented in 500-liter oak barrels where the wine matured. In 2020, he focused on this plot of vines, which he considers to have more potential, one of the largest and oldest in the whole of Bierzo. This 2020 is more vibrant, has more freshness and feels livelier, with some flinty/reductive notes that I like very much and a serious, textured palate with fine, chalky tannins with Roulot-like precision. This is simply superb. 3,200 bottles. It was bottled in November 2021. Drink 2023-2030.
