Tasting Notes

The 2018 E. Pira & Figli Barolo Mosconi has a nose full of sweet spice, cream, cherries, and ripe peaches, with some violet notes every now and then. The palate is encased in lovely, firm tannins which are grippy, upright and forceful but still very refined. This wine has a firm, muscular structure (tannins and acidity) but is so beautifully harmonious too. Mosconi is their oldest vineyard and is in Monforte d' Alba, a commune known for producing long-lived Barolos with firm tannins. Drink up to 20-30 years.
