Nuits St Georges Clos de la Maréchale, Domaine Mugnier 2019

Tasting Notes

Like its 2020 counterpart, this too is wonderfully fresh and perfumed with its array of red raspberry, violet and warm earth where the latter element is reflected by the sleek, delineated and attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that present lovely depth and persistence. Note that while this should easily repay up to a decade of aging, it's not so structured as to be untouchable for the first 5 years or so of its evolution. Drink: 2027+

The 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale has turned out beautifully, unwinding in the glass with scents of red berries, plums, orange rind, sweet spices and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, ample and concentrated, with powdery tannins and lively acids, it's firmer and chalkier than its Chambolle counterparts, and it will require a bit of patience. 2027 - 2057
