Here the wood is a bit more prominent though still discreet on the moderately reduced nose though I doubt that the reduction will persist much beyond the bottling. Otherwise there is very good size, weight and power if not quite the same mid-palate density to the beautifully textured broad-shouldered flavors that culminate in an equally persistent finish. This decidedly compact effort is also built to reward extended cellaring Note: from a .22 ha parcel of domaine-owned vines in Puligny and aged in 50% new wood
Blockier and even more textural than this year's Bienvenues, the 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with notes of oranges, peaches, ripe pears, white flowers, wheat toast and smoke. Full-bodied, rich and powerful, it's thick and muscular, with considerable concentration, lively acids despite its size, and a long, resonant finish.
